Butterflies are a beautiful insect, they are apart of the class of insects along with the moths.
Adult Butterflies
Adult butterflies have large, often bright coloured wings and conspicuous, fluttering flight. The first step of reproduction is finding a mate. Butterflies use visual cues (like the colour of thei wings) to find their mate.Butterflies mate on the ground or in the air; internal fertillization of the eggs take from a few secounds to minutes or hours. After coupling the female butterflies find the right type of leaves in wich she will lay her eggs.
About Butterflies
Butterflies have the typical four-stage inscet life style. Winged adults lay eggs on the food plant on which their larvae, known as caterpillers, will feed. Fully grown caterpillers attach them selfs to suitable twigs or leafs before shedding their outside layer of skin. Scientisis estimate that there are between 15000 and 20000 different types of butterflies.
